Baillie Gifford Launches UK’s First Fully Tokenised UCITS Fund on Public Blockchain

Baillie Gifford has made history by launching the UK's first fully tokenised UCITS fund on a public blockchain. The Strategic Bond Feeder Fund, structured as a UK UCITS, represents a significant milestone in the tokenisation of regulated financial products.

Graham Rodford, CEO of Archax, praised the collaboration, noting the fund's native digital design with on-chain books and records. Theo Golden, investment manager at Baillie Gifford, highlighted the pilot's innovative aspects, including holding fund tokens in a self-custodied wallet.

The project involved close cooperation with regulatory bodies including the Investment Association and the FCA. This initiative positions Baillie Gifford at the forefront of exploring blockchain's potential to transform traditional asset management structures.
